General Motors has finally confirmed that the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is coming and production will begin in the Detroit assembly plant in late 2021. GMC claims the Hummer EV will produce 1,000 hp and an incredible 11,500 lb-ft of torque, announcing the new truck through a Super Bowl ad titled “Quiet Revolution” during the Big Game on Sunday.
“We are excited to debut our revolutionary zero-emissions truck during the biggest night in TV advertising,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick and GMC. “We build premium and capable trucks and SUVs, and the GMC Hummer EV takes this to new heights,” he concluded.
The 30-second TV spot is scheduled to air during the second quarter of the big game. The spot highlights the anticipated performance of GMC’s all-electric super truck, which will generate remarkable metrics in terms of horsepower, torque and acceleration, while providing remarkable on- and off-road capability. All of this is combined with the vastly reduced noise and zero emissions inherent in the operation of an electric vehicle.
The redesigned Hummer will feature at least two electric motors instead of the turbo diesel or gas guzzling V8 engine that we are all accustomed to. GMC claims that the Hummer EV pickup will be capable of hitting 60 miles per hour in three seconds.
